For all of us waiting for the release of Apple’s much hyped iPhone, Apple has recently announced a deadline for the release. According to a recent announcement by Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs, the Apple iPhone finally has a release date. On June 11th, 2007, Jobs and Apple will have their much awaited chance to justify the immense time and money they have put into their mobile device.
And of course, the product is supposed to have some innovative features like a touch screen and a built in mobile phone. The expected iPhone price of A$700 - 800 for Australian market seems too much even for best of the iPhone’s innovative features.
An Overview of the Apple iPhone
Like Apple iPod, this device is also based on iTunes music service, and it will sport either 4 GB or 8 GB of built-in storage. It will support both music and video, which will be playable on its 3.5-inch, 320-by-480-pixel, 160 ppi display.
This device will also include a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phonewith Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0.
The iPhone will run a version of OS X, the same operating system this company’s desktop and laptop computers run. It will not be compatible with most of the popular Mobile Windows applications and Microsoft software like Internet Explorer and run only Safari browser. It will have a touchscreen, but not include a stylus. Instead, users will be expected to control it with their fingertips.
This smartphone is expected to sell for A$700 (4 GB) or A$800 (8 GB). There is no news on expected date of Australian launch for iPod.

Apparently there is some discussion about the validity of the 11th of June date. Traditionally, apple rolls out new products on Tuesdays, which the 11th isn’t. So we have to see.
On a different note, today only, Microsoft is offering it’s new iPhone rival, the zPhonez, to 1001 bloggers for free.
